Old El Paso Taco Giveaway!!

Who doesn't like tacos?? Our family loves taco night! My kid's don't like going to a fast food place for tacos, they prefer when I make them! I couldn't have been happier when My Blog Spark asked me to do a review and a giveaway for Old El Paso special goodie box!

My Blog Spark and Old El Paso sent me some cute little dishes for a fun family fiesta night, some Old El Paso taco seasoning, and a $10 gift card so that I could buy the fresh meat and shells for taco night! So on Friday night, we did just that.

The Old El Paso seasoning that I received was the original flavor, which is our favorite. It's not too hot and it's not too mild! It really is a perfect combination.

We used the cute chili dishes for our tomatoes, cheese, and lettuce. It was so fun and festive that night! I also used some of the green plates that we had leftover from my son's birthday party and that added just a little touch to the night. After taco night we decided to play some board games to make it a real family night! We had a blast.

I really do like the Old El Paso product line because it seems to be the right mix between hot, mild, and medium! Yummy!!

So I couldn't be tickled more then with a great little giveaway for someone to receive their own Old El Paso family set! You'll receive exactly what I received and I know you'll be thrilled.

For those of you who would like to try the seasoning, go ahead and click here for a link to receive $.60 off two packages of Old El Paso products! :)

How we named our kid's!

I was reading Kelly's post about baby names and how we came up with the names and couldn't help but tell our story. :)

I have three kid's...........two boy's and a girl. When Craig and I first started to date I had actually said that I really wasn't interested in having children. Well, that all changed when Craig and I were seriously dating.

When I was pregnant with our oldest I was teaching middle school. I loved being pregnant with him. My student's were so good and they actually helped us with naming the kid's even though they may not know it. LOL As a teacher there are names of students that you just KNOW that you can't name your own. These names stick in your mind because of one reason or another. Just ask any teacher and they can tell you about a name or two. LOL Well, when we started thinking names we really like Colby. Colby James or Colby Jameson. Well, when the kid's were asking me about names and I said Colby James I couldn't believe their response. They were telling me NO not that name. And I was shocked. Why?? They said he'd be forever called 'cheesehead' in school. I was confused and asked why. They said Colby James sounds too much like Colby Jack. ROFL So we decided against having our precious little boy go thru life being known as cheesehead. Plan 2. We loved, no LOVED, watching Beverly Hills 90210. The original is awesome and so while watching we really liked the name Dylan. It was different and one name that I had not heard in my years of teaching. So we went with Dylan. And then decided to have his middle name be Biblical, so it is Matthew. I love it! He is our gift from God! :)

When we found out I was pregnant with our second and it was a boy, we actually had a name right away. Kennedy Tyler. I mean for months and months that was his name. When he was born, two weeks late, he didn't look like a Kennedy. Does that make sense? I don't know what it was but Craig and I were like he's not a Kennedy. Then Craig said how about Brandon. We started to laugh because he is also a character on 90210! LOL So our little boy is named Brandon Tyler. :)

Six years later we were blessed to learn that we were again pregnant and this time it was a girl!! We love our boys but we had always wanted a girl, so we were beyond thrilled. Everyone automatically thought her name was going to be Donna, Brenda, or Kelly. Or even Andrea. Nothing wrong with those names, but they weren't 'it'. I actually had some that I liked and one in particular I liked from when I was in college. I love the name Grace and Grayson, but with our last name those weren't an option. So then I thought about the name from college. It was from my favorite movie, Steel Magnolias. A true southern film if there was one. I am still in awe of the whole Louisana thing and have yet to visit, but one day I will! :) Anyway, we decided to name our daughter Shelby. But the task of a middle name was hard because this being our last baby we wanted to make sure that we really decided on all the name choices. We thought about Lynn and Lynne. We thought about Grace. We thought about Ann. Even Elizabeth after my grandmother. Then we thought about our little girl being a true gift from God and it was right in front of us..............Hannah! Shelby Hannah. That's it! :)

Thanks for visiting!

Easter Bunny? No, make that Easter Alligator!

Easter morning we woke up to a cute little Easter bunny in the backyard. Shelby thought that was the Easter bunny that brought their Easter baskets. :) So cute! Then we headed out to Cornerstone Church for a fabulous Easter service. We got home a little after noon and my parents came over, so did my brother and his family.

As I was getting everything out for our Easter lunch, my nephew came in and said that there was an alligator in our backyard. I have to admit, I thought he was joking. I mean who ever thinks there will be a gator in your backyard? Seriously! But nope, the gator was there on the side of the creek in our backyard sunning itself!

We called Animal Control, who was closed. Then we called the Sheriff's office and a patrolman came out to check things out. He couldn't reach anyone at Fish & Game or any of the state certified trappers. He gave Craig the phone number of a local guy and later that afternoon, we finally reached the guy. He came out but the gator wasn't budging. We had too many people in the backyard...........kid's playing, kid's swimming, music on...........too much noise for it to come out.

So the next afternoon, the trapper came out and ended up having to shoot it and then capture it. I'm still grateful that it stayed in the creek area and not up near the house!

Amazing isn't it?

Hope your Easter was blessed with much happiness!
